Tooling & Automation

Feltex Trim collaborates with local and international tooling manufacturers to ensure the highest quality in our production processes. We integrate advanced automation technologies, including robot cutting, HF welding, compression moulding and PU foaming, to streamline production, improve efficiency, and ensure consistent quality. This investment in automation boosts productivity and ensures our products adhere to the highest standards of precision and excellence.

Feltex Trim Key Components

Feltex Trim specialises in the production of a wide range of nonwoven textiles and automotive components, which are manufactured and delivered to conversion plants around the country. These key components include:

Non-Woven Textile Production: From the head office campus in Durban, we produce a variety of nonwoven textiles such as low-weight needle punched scrims, flat needle punch carpet, and random velour carpets. Various thermobonded felts are also manufactured, including phenolic resin felt, glass reinforced felts, Techfleece™, and thermoplastic felts. These textiles are primarily produced for moldable automotive applications. To minimise waste, offcut materials are collected and recycled in Durban.

Conversion

Feltex Trim manufactures main floor carpets, cabin insulation, trunk or boot trim packages, engine compartment insulation, parcel shelves, and exterior wheel arch liners. This is done from our factories directly to customers, with technical know-how developed internally and supported by technology and licensing agreements with global leaders in automotive trim components. Conversion plants are strategically located in Rosslyn, Silverton, Durban, Port Elizabeth, and East London to provide Just-In-Time (JIT) and Just-In-Sequence (JIS) service to customers. The focus in each plant is on customer service through quality parts, lean manufacturing, and on-time delivery.

Engine Compartment Insulation

We manufacture engine compartment insulators such as bonnet liners and outer dash insulators. These insulators use high-performance materials like phenolic resin felts, glass felts, lightweight foam, and lightweight scrims to reduce interior and exterior noise while resisting high temperatures, vehicle fluids, and water.

Tunnel Insulators

We employ our expertise in NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) technology to create maximum comfort and assist in vehicle acoustics. This expertise, in conjunction with our technology partners, is used to manufacture key exterior acoustic components such as tunnel insulators, ensuring optimal noise reduction and enhanced vehicle comfort.
